Business Week has reported that Illy is to expand its Illy Bar Concepts under a new brand name, Espressamente. Over a hundred cafes have opened in major world cities. An intriguing remark by Business Week which will not go down well in Seattle is : ‘unlike Starbucks, Illy is focussing on high-quality coffee’. The magazine also sourly enquires whether we are now approaching the stage of the ‘uber-premium’ latte at twelve dollars a cup.
